FUE, or Follicular Unit Extraction, is a modern hair transplant method where individual hair follicles are extracted and then implanted into recipient channels. For a patient, the most immediate impression of FUE is often the absence of a linear scar, unlike older techniques. Instead, you'll see tiny, pin-prick scabs in the donor area, typically at the back or sides of the head, which heal quickly and become virtually undetectable within days or weeks, even with very short hair. This method involves the careful removal of follicular units – naturally occurring groupings of one to four hairs – one by one directly from the scalp using a specialized micro-punch tool, ranging in diameter from 0.6mm to 1.0mm.
