When considering topical finasteride, a patient should ask their hair transplant surgeon or dermatologist about the specific formulation being recommended, its concentration, and the recommended application method. They should inquire about the clinic's experience with the product, the expected timeline for results, and what follow-up monitoring will be in place to assess efficacy and potential side effects. It's also vital to confirm that the product is a professionally compounded or commercially produced topical finasteride and not an attempt at a homemade solution. Understanding that consistency is key and that it is an ongoing treatment, not a cure, will help manage expectations and contribute to a successful outcome alongside a hair transplant.
