What commonly goes wrong regarding hypertrophic scars in the context of hair transplantation often relates to poor surgical technique, inadequate post-operative care, or a lack of awareness of patient-specific risk factors. For example, excessive tension during closure in FUT, infection in the wound site, or early strenuous activity can exacerbate scarring. Another common issue is a patient's failure to adhere to post-operative instructions, such as avoiding sun exposure or picking at scabs. Furthermore, a clinic might not adequately screen for a patient's personal or family history of abnormal scarring, leading to unexpected outcomes.
